Redfern-North Eveleigh Precinct

Our CEO Bénédicte Colin joined The Hon. Rob Stokes, NSW Minister for Cities, Infrastructure and Active Transport to launch the draft masterplan for ‘The Paint Shop’ in Redfern North Eveleigh.

TAHE has worked with delivery partner Transport for NSW to prepare a Site Significant Precinct Study and draft masterplan for the Paint Shop Sub-precinct.

This exciting new vision for the precinct will help unlock access to the historic railyard precinct for the first time in more than 100 years.

The revitalisation of Redfern North Eveleigh envisages the creation of a mixed use precinct, featuring housing, entertainment and technology-focused employment, spread over 10 hectares of public land all located within walking distance of Redfern Station in Sydney.

“ This is a perfect example of the city-shaping projects TAHE was created to undertake,’ says TAHE CEO Bénédicte Colin.”

“We’re proud to be revitalising this incredibly valuable precinct, honouring the strong indigenous and industrial heritage of the area and enabling public access to this site which has been shut off to public access for many decades.’

The draft masterplan focuses on the adaptive reuse of the 6,000 square metre ‘Paint Shop’. This 135 year old red brick Victorian workshop was a thriving hub of industrial activity, where trains were overhauled up until 1988.

The masterplan includes:

  • Transformation of the 6,000 square metre Paint Shop Precinct to support the delivering of a new residential, technology and innovation hub
  • Up to 450 new homes, including affordable and diverse housing
  • New public spaces and connections to Redfern Station to support our vibrant, liveable urban areas
